The Vanguard School of Lake Wales, Florida, was founded in 1966 to serve the needs of students with a variety of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. Located in the heart of the Sunshine State, the school has a 77 acre campus in the city of Lake Wales, and is ideally situated for access to the beaches and cultural and entertainment centers of Central Florida. The school provides a safe and secure but appropriately demanding and structured environment in which students who have been unsuccessful in traditional school programs are able to learn and achieve. Classes are small, between four to eight students, and individual tutorials are available to enhance classroom instruction. Targeted reading and math programs are included in all students’ Individualized Learning Paths. Students from all around the world have access to our beautiful dormitories, classroom buildings, full gym, aquatic center, fitness center, library/media center, and dining hall. Interscholastic sports provide an opportunity to develop interpersonal, athletic and leadership skills. Evening clubs, activities, and weekend events round out the program. The Vanguard School and its academic programs are fully accredited by both the Florida Council of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or AdvancEd.
